Private Hospital - Services and Facilities

There is a range of services and facilities available
for patients and visitors

ATM
There is an ATM (Automatic Teller Machine) located in the Marian Lounge outside the Pre-Admissions Clinic and close to Madeleine's Kiosk which accepts cards from most financial institutions.

Change Machines
There are two change machines, one is located in the entrance of the Marian Building (See Calvary Hospital Map Ref. A) adjacent to the pre-admission waiting area and the other is outside the Cross Roads Kiosk to the left of the elevators in the main entrance (Ref. B).

Counselling & Support
Patients and immediate family needing spiritual and emotional support can do so through the Pastoral Care Department, telephone (02) 6201 6665 or the Social Work Department, telephone (02) 6201 6310. You can also ask the ward manager to make contact with these services on your behalf.

The Social Work Department can also assist you to get help and advice to manage your personal affairs.

Drinks & Snacks
The Hospital Auxiliary runs two kiosks on campus. Profits are used to purchase and donate equipment to the Hospital. These kiosks sell cold drinks, snacks, flowers, gifts, toiletries, newspapers, magazines and books.

The Cross Roads Kiosk is located on the ground floor of the Xavier building (Ref. B) to the left of the main entrance, elevators and reception desk. It is open from 8.30 am to 8pm weekdays, 10.30am to 8pm on weekends.

Madeleine's Kiosk is located to the right of the entrance to the Marian Building (Ref. A), near the Pre-Admissions Clinic. It is open from 8.30 am to 5pm weekdays, closed on weekends.

Florist
Flowers are available from the Cross Roads Kiosk or delivered by an external florist. The Hospital Auxiliary provide a regular service to patients of refreshing the water in flower arrangements.

Justice of the Peace
There are several Justices of the Peace (JP) on staff who can assist you if you require their services. Phone the Calvary Switchboard on (02) 6201 6111.

Pastoral Care & Chapel
Calvary Health Care ACT has a very active pastoral care team who are able to provide practical, spiritual and emotional support during your stay with us. To access these services or a representative of your religion, please call (02) 6201 6665 or speak to ward staff.

A chapel is open for patients, visitors and staff at all times. A range of services are offered in this Department, which is located on the ground floor of the Xavier building, to the right of the main entrance (Ref. 6).

You can telephone the pastoral care team on (02) 6201 6665 to discuss your needs with a representative of your faith.

Regular worship times are:

  • Catholic Mass 9.00am Sunday
  • Anglican Service 10.30am Sunday
  • Eucharist Prayers 10.30am weekdays

Pharmacy
The Pharmacy is not a retail pharmacy and is only able to dispense medication on hospital prescriptions. The Pharmacy dispenses medications for use while you are in hospital and when you leave. Our pharmacy staff can answer any questions you may have about your medication.

Interpreting services
Calvary does provide an interpreting service, to use this service please call 13 1450 or alternatively you can ring the switchboard (02) 6201 6111 and they can connect you.

Post Box
There is a post box located adjacent to the circular drive to the main entrance, Xavier building, which is cleared daily. Stamps are available from the hospital kiosks.

Mail will be delivered to you. If possible, please ask people sending you mail to include your full name and ward number on the envelope.

Security & Lost Items
The Security Officers at Calvary Health Care ACT provide site security 24 hours per day.

Personal belongings brought into the hospital by Emergency patients and those that are accidentally left behind by ward or clinic patients are stored in the Security Manager's office and may be retrieved by telephoning (02) 6201 6900 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.

Smoking
All Calvary Health Care ACT buildings are smoke-free zones. If you need to smoke outside, please respect other patients, visitors and staff by standing clear of entrances and ensuring cigarette butts are placed in the units provided.

Telephones
Pay phones are located on the ground floor in the main entrance, Xavier building (Ref. 5), the Emergency Department (Ref. 2) and the Marian Building (Ref. 8).

Bedside phones will accept incoming calls. Extension numbers are located on the phones. To bypass the switchboard, call 6201 and add the four digit extension number. For outgoing calls, pre-paid phone cards are available from the Patient's Office (level 1, Xavier Building) or from the reception desk in the Emergency Department.

Televisions & Radio Hire
Televisions can be hired while you are in hospital on a daily or weekly basis, through the Patient's Office on (02) 6201 6012. Use of the provided earpiece receivers is necessary for the interests and comfort of other patients.

Due to electrical safety regulations, you are not permitted to bring your own TV or any other plug-in electrical device.
